HABC – Manual Handling
HABC is the fastest growing Awarding Body in the UK. HABC are recognised by Ofqual, Welsh Government, CCEA and SQA to award accredited Food Safety, Health and Safety, HACCP, First Aid, Licensing, Security (SIA), Fire Safety and Teaching qualifications in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
The level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling is intended as an introduction to moving and handling activities for those starting work, returning to work or who need specific training in manual handling, as well as being a suitable qualification for refresher training.
Learners gaining this qualification will understand that moving and handling must be carried out correctly and will recognize its importance in ensuring a safer working environment.
Outcome of this Qualification?
This qualification provides the opportunities for learners to develop competence in key skills and produce evidence towards attaining key skills. The qualification does not ensure key skills are met as this would depend upon learners producing a portfolio of evidence and the mode of study adopted.
This qualification is made up of one mandatory unit, the details of which are provided in the next section.
Learners must successfully complete the assessment for the unit to achieve the qualification.
What Does The Qualification Covers?
The qualification covers the following elements:
- Understand the reasons for safe manual handling.
- Understand how manual handling risk assessments contribute to improving health and safety.
- Understand the principles, types of equipment and testing requirements associated wth manual handling safety..
- Be able to apply safe manual handling principles.
What is the Duration of the Training?
The two days Class Room Training + Multiple-Choice Examination + Practical Assessment.
How the qualification is Assessed?
This qualification is assessed through a practical examination through the duration of the course by the tutor, followed by a 15-question multiple-choice question examination. The duration of the examination is 30 minutes.
Successful learners must achieve a score of at least 10 out of 15.
Learners must also practically demonstrate the application of the correct techniques as indicated with the learning outcomes of the unit.
